To me ME2 is awesome, but it doesn't have staying power on the 360 because of not having multiplayer. The sales it did do are great, I haven't heard anyone complaining. Alan Wake, I haven't played, but I heard a lot of people saying it was only 7-8 hours and they ditched the open world aspect of it. Plus the reviews, for people who follow reviews, weren't amazing. I'll probably pick it up next week along with Crackdown 2.
Didn't Modern Warfare 2 sale 8 million on the PS3 alone? I'm pretty sure just because its on the PS3 too doesn't make it NOT a shooter.
Because there not as good as they're hyped to be? Seriously, if a game is good it will sell. If a game doesn't have replay value though....well compare it to the heavy hitters and the question won't have to be asked.

On topic: I'm starting to lean towards this being actually true. It could only bring more people to the franchise along with a beta. They should really send the Gears franchise off with a bang. They already brought the gameplay of the first one back with the non-ranked public matches. I also heard that if you haven't reached the highest rank yet, that you'll be able to bring that over to Gears 3.
